Classic Car Shows and Events South Africa 2026

South Africa's Classic Car Event Calendar 2026

South Africa has one of the most active classic car communities in Africa, with events ranging from intimate club gatherings to large-scale concours d'élégance. Whether you're showing a concours-quality Jaguar E-Type or simply bringing your restored Beetle to a club day, knowing the event calendar — and making sure your insurance covers attendance — is essential.

Major National Events

Concours South Africa

Held annually at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit, Concours South Africa is the country's premier classic car event. Judged to international FIA standards, it attracts some of the finest examples of pre-war and post-war classics in private hands. Entry is by application, and attending vehicles must be in concours condition. Check the official site for 2026 dates and entry requirements.

Classic Car Show at Killarney

The annual classic car show at Killarney International Raceway in Cape Town typically draws several hundred vehicles across all eras. Open to vehicles of all conditions, it is a popular event for Cape Town's substantial VW, Ford and British sports car communities.

Rand Easter Show

While primarily an agricultural and commercial exhibition, the Rand Easter Show features a popular classic car display that attracts American muscle cars, European classics, and locally assembled South African models.

Regional Events by Province

Western Cape

The Cape has the highest concentration of classic car events in South Africa. In addition to the Killarney show, regular club days are held by the Cape Classic Car Club, the Cape Town Motor Club, and the Vintage Vehicle Society of South Africa. The Franschhoek Motor Museum also hosts collector vehicle events throughout the year. See our Western Cape events guide for more detail.

Gauteng

Gauteng's large collector base supports a busy calendar of events at Kyalami, Motorama, and various club venues across the province. The Classic Car Club of South Africa runs regular events from its Johannesburg base, and the Porsche Club of South Africa holds touring events and track days.

KwaZulu-Natal

Durban and the surrounding area has a growing classic car scene, with events organised by the KZN Classic Car Club and various marque clubs. The coastal climate is kind to classics, and values for KZN-based vehicles in original condition are strong.

Ensuring Your Vehicle is Covered at Events

Before attending any classic car event, confirm with your broker that your policy includes:

• Cover while your vehicle is on display at a show or concours
• Transit cover between your home and the event venue
• Third-party liability while the vehicle is being driven at the event
• Cover for participation in parades or processions

Most specialist concours cover policies include show attendance as standard, but it is always worth confirming before you attend. If your vehicle will be transported on a trailer or transporter, check that transit cover is included.

Classic Car Auctions

Classic car auctions in South Africa are held periodically by specialists including Shannons, WeBuyCars Classic, and private auction houses. If you are purchasing a vehicle at auction, arrange insurance before bidding — your existing classic car policy may not automatically extend to newly acquired vehicles, and cover should be arranged the moment a purchase is confirmed.

Planning Your 2026 Event Season

To stay up to date with the full South African classic car event calendar, join your relevant marque club and the Classic Car Club of South Africa. Most events are advertised through club newsletters, social media groups, and event platforms several months in advance. If you are planning to attend multiple events, discuss a blanket event endorsement with your broker to ensure seamless cover throughout the season.
